After graduating with a BSBA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Youngstown State in 2009, Ms. Gallagher started Gallagher Marketing and partnered with Clear Choice Creative in 2010, before joining the SolarFlex team in March. She took the time to talk with us about both the business and her career.
Ms. Gallagher, can you tell us a little bit about how the company you’re working with got started?
Northern States Metals, the parent company of Solar FlexRack was started by Paul Cusson because he thought we could sell aluminum extrusions better than the company he was working for at that time. Solar FlexRack was born in 2008 because we were approached by another company to make a better rack than what the industry had. So we did, hence the name Solar FlexRack.
Can you give a description of what you guys do and how you found a niche in the marketplace?
The renewable energy side of the business is utility scale mounting systems/solutions. It stands out because of the flexible unfolding design, and because we had a strong manufacturing background.
Very cool! How did you end up there?
I took time off for a short period of time for my daughter. Then, I teamed up with Black Rock Royalty Management (Utica Shale start up) on a consulting basis through Gallagher Marketing, and became their “Marketing, PR, Communications” person of choice. Then came on board part time shortly thereafter. I wrote content for the website, held information seminars about the company, and performed other misc. marketing needs. Black Rock Royalty slowed, and therefore caused me to re-think that opportunity and I decided to team up (In March) with Solar FlexRack in the marketing department. I was hired to work on the distributor channel with solar clamps, but that has been put on hold. At present, I have been involved with multiple projects including CRM, ERP, Installation Manuals, trade shows, misc. content strategies, and promoting internal marketing morale among many other projects. Also, trying to bridge the communication gap between sales and engineers and do whatever I can to enhance SFR’s and Industrial Products marketing to take it to the next level.
